In ancient Middle East, where Jesus once walked, Bedouins (desert dwellers) would lead their tribes, families and communities through dry deserts on life-long journeys.

In many ways, today's pastors are like those Bedouins. Not only are they overworked, but also are without much support as they lead their congregations forward.

These Bedouins always planned their trips based on where the next oasis might be. As they then traveled through the weary wilderness, all they looked forward to was an oasis or two.

Like congregants, pastors also struggle through the wilderness, and are often desirous of oases that can refill, revive and restore them - so that they can fulfill their great commission.

When they finally reached these oases, the Bedouins were not only refreshed themselves, but also ensured that their group was revived. They would then store up enough water for their journey till the next oasis.

Church conferences are these much-needed oases for pastors. Not only do they give them a break, but also enable them to meet other tribesmen, learn from leaders and mutually edify one another.

WHAT'S OASES?

     The Oases logo

Gen 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

For us at Oases, everything is built on this primary Biblical foundation. We believe that He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, and the first and the last.

The blue circle in our logo reminds us about this everyday, so that the work of the Lord never becomes more important than the Lord of the work.

Col 1:17 - He existed before all things and in Him all things are held together.

Colloquially known as the Jesus Fish, this symbol was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol of their faith. There is an Ichthys in the center of our logo because it is in Jesus that all things are held together.

John 15:5 states that apart from Him, we can do nothing. At Oases, we believe that truth, and want Him to be the center of not just our work, but also our lives so that we can abide in Him and bear much fruit.

John 4:14 - Whoever drinks of the water I give them, will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Just as oases were crucial for Bedouins, the living water that Jesus offers is crucial for us today. It's really a matter of life and death, because it's when we drink of His living water that we cross over to life, eternal life.

In today's wilderness, people constantly seek oases because of the water provided in the desert. Jesus is the ultimate oasis and we are just hoping to reflect Him, as oases, to this dry and weary world around us.
